I'll Be There For Yooooooou

1st: I did not know that this person's 1st child was conceived through IVF
2nd: I wish I had the $$ she does to not have to worry about "when she will do it..."
3rd: Related to the 2nd point, maybe I can write to her and ask her to donate some funds to our attempt?

This Friend is going to hop on the IVF train...

Have a good weekend all.....announcement (which inst anything huge and glamorous, sorry) will hopefully be ready Monday!

  1. I knew (I'm not sure how) that she had Coco with IVF. I'm not stalking her or anything :) I was just talking about this with a friend yesterday. A lot of my friends and family think IF is too personal to talk about. I was saying that I wish more celebs would come out and admit they used ART. It seems the twins among celebs is a pandemic, and no one is fessing up. I know it would be hard, but it would great if they could speak up to help IF seem less taboo to discuss.

    Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Wow, I didn't know that either. I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of celebrities come out of the IF closet. I'll bet there are a ton of IVF celebrity babies.

    Have a great weekend!

  3. They're lucky to have the money for that option anytime they feel like having another baby! I agree, they shouldn't be ashamed of IF.

  4. Wow, I didn't know they used IVF the first time. Good for her for 'fessing up. I hope it works the second time too -- when they "Feel like" getting around to it.

Looking forward to the big announcement!

  5. I knew she had trouble getting pregnant, but didn't realize her first was an IVF baby. I wish more people - celebs and not - would come out about it. There's nothing wrong with it and talking about it in whispers leaves the wrong impression. Thank G*d that medical science has advanced far enough to help those who couldn't have kids without it!

  7. interesting... i didn't know lil coco was an ivf product.

the "friends" are so bloody loaded, they could just as well BUY their babies... ah well, we make do with our resources and do what we have to do

  8. I'd read the same thing as inconceivable above, that courteney cox had several miscarriages prior to coco. She said in an interview that there were times during the infertility storyline on Friends that she was actually miscarrying IRL.

  9. Never knew that...

By the way Happy Belated Birthday.

  10. ooh stop teasing with your special announcement to come whatnot, curiosity killed the cat don't you know!
    ____

She had a few miscarriages too I remember reading about, so her coco is quite the little miracle by all accounts.

I think many celebrities keep these things to themselves, I do IRL, except on my blog obviously, so I don't blame them, its not really our business.

Interesting to know nevertheless, makes us feel normal to know celebs have issues too. Their money would be useful though, as you say :)

  12. Hey JJ,
Say your latest comment on my blog. Damn! You, too? Sorry that we both had the same deflating experience. But with each cycle comes a new chance for hope. Sending you lots of good wishes. PJ

P.S. Got the hush puppies recipe. Will put it to good use. Thanks much!

  13. I read somewhere that it took about 7 IVF attempts to conceive Coco. I know she had several miscarriages too, but I don't know if those were before or during the IVF attempts. I applaud her for sharing her story.

  14. I actually knew she had done IVF somehow and had had at least one miscarriage.

Sometimes I wonder if her Hollywood-style diet and exercise regime (I think she's naturally slender but works to be TV thin) has affected her fertility. I do admire her for being open about their struggles. People need to know how common IF is.

  15. I'm letting you know I'm reading, but have only one hand to comment. So, know that I am here, thinking about you. Glad the meds are there!

  16. I think a lot more celebs use ART than admit it. Maybe they are just being sensitive to other women in their situation because they know how tenuous the whole deal can be. That being said, I would much more hear about and from women celebs who struggled with fertility than about the shameless publicity seekers who didn't (Tori Spelling, bleech, anyone?).

    Thanks for the cute post.

    Cheers, Ms. Planner

  17. I think I knew about Courtney Cox and her IVF or perhaps I just knew that she'd had a hard time. I think that IVF was probably not on my radar then like it is now.

Back then I was just interested in older (late thirties) mothers. Now i'm hungry for IVF success stories!

Glad your meds are in and you're edging towards your cycle xx

  18. I saw an interview she did on t.v. where she said that she had repeat miscarriages and the problem was NOT that she couldn't get pregnant, she got pregnant quite easily. The problem was staying pregnant. So, it doesn't surprise me that she used ivf given her age and fertility problems. Marsha Cross also used ivf.
I wish more celebrities would admit to using art. I think they are harming women by giving the world the idea that "more women are having babies in their forties." We discussed this in Human Growth and development this past semester. Women in my class actually thought that they could wait until early forties to start ttc!

  19. yeah i remember hearing she had used some time of ART cycle but didn't know it was IVF. i thought it was great that she came out about it. back at that time i thought we'd get pregnant on our first IUI so i felt so sorry for her that she had to go through some sort of "advanced" technique. HA!!

  20. I am sooo looking forward to your announcement.

  21. Blimey, thanks for the inside scoop. It actually helps me to know it happens to celebs too and I agree with Laura that it would be great if they would come out more if they felt up to it.

  22. matthew mf miller says:Totally - they are lucky that money isn't an issue, but that doesn't make it any easier to deal with.

I mean celebs are people, too. Except for Paris Hilton, of course.

  23. Hi there!
I knew she had "issues" but I didn't know she had openly admitted to IVF...another one on our side!!
To answer your question on my blog...I am 5'6" and weighed 140 prepregnancy. Another lady in my office is about 5'8" and thin and she said she also dealt with a lot of swelling. I am not sure what's causing it...I know I don't drink enough water but I've cut out a lot of sodium and have my legs propped up as much as I can. No telling!!

  24. I didn't know she used IVF but knew she suffered through miscarriages so suspected. I wish, like Laura, that more would speak out about it - make it not such a private "unknown" that none of us talk about out loud. When Marcia Cross did the cover of people and talked about her IVF, I really respected that - it's about time! Cuz while I'm not famous, I'm getting more and more comfortable talking about it, and as I do, I'm shocked by how many people have a lot of curious questions (good questions!) and how many also went through it.
