Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Stevie Wonder is the man.

It doesn't matter where I am: when "Superstition" or "Sir Duke" comes on the radio, you are gonna see me booty-shakin'. "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" is one of my top three pick-me-up songs, and "I Just Called to Say I Love You" takes me down memory lane to when I was about five, and dancing in the kitchen with my mother as she sang to me:

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart!

"Signed, Sealed, Delivered" played joyously through the room as Mook and I walked through the doors as Husband and Wife. The perfect song to tell the world we were hitched! So this song has always held a special place in my heart-whenever it comes on and Mook is around, I grab him and we dance like fools (this happened recently in Sam's Club). So although we really need some paper towels in bulk (thanks to Mosley), Mook isn't jumping at the opportunity to go back...
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The past few days, this Stevie favorite has come to mind for a few other reasons:
"The Box" came yesterday, and because of the personal nature of the contents I was the only one who was able to sign for it. I didn't get the butterflies I got last time, when I felt that all of these drugs were the magic ticket for getting us pregnant. Yesterday, I felt a bit more...numb. After I Signed for it, I placed the box under my desk and didn't think about it the rest of the day. Ignoring always worked in 3rd grade, when you wanted the boy you had a crush on to notice you--so I figure it could work on the meds too! I just won't pay them any mind, and then they will be dying for my attention!
Last Friday when I got home, I opened a package that had been Sealed with love.
"Hope is the eternal well from which life springs.
Hope is the promise of all good things."
This is what was inside. You may recognize it...because a sweet lady posted about this exact same bunny last year, in this post. She wrote: "It will someday be on my baby's crib as a reminder of how long I hoped to see him/her sleeping peacefully and what a blessing that day will be!" Cibele got her HOPE along with a BFP only days after this post...I remember how much hope it renewed in me to read that. So thank you my dear friend for passing along the hope to me.
The package couldn't have come on a better day, because the very next day my good friend Delivered her new baby girl: the day before Mother's Day. Any couple dealing with inferitlity that walks into a maternity ward on Mother's Day weekend, and doesn't have a mental breakdown, should be given a medal of honor (I'll contact the Pentagon and see what I can work out) I've mentioned before how wonderful these friends are, and honestly we are so happy for them--but jumpin' jehosaphat, that was a tough evening. When I held her and when I watched Mook hold her, my heart felt like it would jump out of my chest--there is no experience quite like holding a newborn.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

My birthday wish this weekend (well other than the obvious) is for you to put on your favorite booty-shakin' song and dance--like that cheesy saying, "like no one is watching" And even if they are, do it anyway.

Come back and tell me what song, and where you danced to it. That means you too, my lurker-friends! Or if you already know what song and where you'll be, go ahead and share--I may come find ya' and dance along! :0)

I am sooooooooooo glad that you got it...It made me cry to see at you door. I took a similar picture and also the crib picture with Lyla and I'll be posting you. I HOPE that it brings to you the wave of good news that brought me. You are very special to me... I cant wait to hear a new song from, instead of miles of sorrow, miles of happiness

Have a happy birthday!! :)

I'm not the booty shakin' type, but I think it's TOO CUTE that you actually did that in Sam's!!

JJ, I'm SO hopeful that this is the cycle for you. That all that waiting will end with this cycle. You're in my prayers.

I have many songs I dance to like nobody's watching, I tend to freak the husband out with it regularly;-). The songs of choice would be Billie Jean (Michael Jackson), Crazy (Gnarles Barkley), and Crabbuckit (K-Os). There's many more, but those in particular work for me. Work it work it...

Sgt and I dance to Jim Croce's Time in a Bottle whenever we hear it much to our teen sons dismay. It was our wedding song 16 years ago.

October 2006 we were in our RE's office starting our 4th and final diui when we heard it playing. I looked at Sgt, he looked at me and we both knew that this cycle was going to work out. The day of our diui it was playing again. We left the office with hope.

We played it driving to the hospital the day our son was born.

The video reminds me of Sgt and Graeme in our back garden. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILf-54Smv9M

JJ, Stevie Wonder is one of my absolute favorites too! I long to find the opening rift to Superstitious for my cell phone ring, but my carrier doesn't have it!
Anyway, have a wonderful fabulous birthday, and I'll get back to you on the booty shaking - it never takes much for me, could happen anywhere!

Jen said...

I had to insist that my hubby dance with me at our wedding. I got him to dance our first dance (Elvis - I can't help falling in love) and, apparently, one other time. We have pictures but no recollection. Yay margaritas.

But I'm wishing you all the best this cycle!

It's not exactly booty-shaking material, but the hubby and I have been known to dance in the supermarket to our wedding song - "In My Life" by the Beatles.

Happy Birthday! I hope this year brings you everything you wish for!

OMG, I love that you have Cibele's pillow! That's so special! I hope it brings you great luck!

Cute! And thanks for stopping by my blog!

"Tempted by the Fruit of Another" is one of my booty-shaking songs. Kinda odd, I know, but it works for me. And "Ice, Ice Baby" is one of my favorite sing-along songs.

The bunny story was so touching...

I don't dance, unless I am heavily intoxicated.

I hope that IVF # 2 is the answer to all of your dreams, JJ.

Jill said...

JJ-I love music, too! Some other good booty shakers: "Get Low" by Lil John and "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce. We had upbeat wedding songs like "Moondance" by Van Morrison and "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch" by the Four Tops...

I did shake my booty, all alone in my house today, to the clash's should I stay or should I go, I did it today instead of this weekend. Happy birthday.
OMG.... we need to make an award, the Non-Mom award, the person who on Mother's Day does brave things and does not break down in a puddle of tears. Your so amazing.
Seeing my DH with a baby in his arms, kills me, it's like a thousand knifes in my chest, so I understand why that would be so hard.
AND congrats on the big box o' drugs

Soooo sweet! I'm sure hoping that bunny brings you luck!!

I think a travelling bunny that sprinkles baby dust wherever it goes is a fabulous idea!

Hmmmmmm. "Wannabe" by The Spice Girls.

I love me some Stevie! And unfortunately, I dance like a fool to far too many songs to list...and I'm a really bad dancer ;)

Happy birthday, JJ! I can't think of a particular song right now, but I'll let you know if one pops up. Hey, do you still want my PIO? Email me if you do at dbablin at yahoo dot com.

I'm horrible with song titles but I love the Widespread Panic song that goes, "There's a party going on, many spirits strong, ain't no preacha just happy to meet ya." That gets me singing and dancing in the car as well as I can whenever I hear it.

The pillow is soooo sweet. May it bring you lots of luck.

M said...

Awww... that gift was so sweet. I rally hope it keeps the hope alive in you! :)

Hmm, I wWILL shake my booty this weekend.. let's see, I'll dance to Three Little Birds by Bob Marley. Hope you have a wonderful birthday!!!

In college my favorite dancing song was American Girl by Tom Petty. I used to BLAST it in the dorm and dance around. :-)

I can't tell you how much hope I have for you this cycle, JJ! Congrats on the box 'o meds. I hope they--and the bunny--bring you everything you wish for.

My best friend gave birth two weeks ago Sunday, and it was a little hard. Mother's Day came up several times while we were visiting them in the hospital. You are a good friend to visit them and hold the baby during a tough weekend. Such a sweet gift from Cibele!

Have a wonderful birthday, and I can't wait to come back and post what song I shook my booty to LOL.

sara said...

I read cibele's post and cried. Then I linked over to your post and am crying yet again! The computer screen actually looks a little blurry, I'm such a sap for sweet sweet stories! JJ I am so hoping this is the cycle for you, I'm pulling out all the prayer, good thoughts, and finger crossings for you. Oh yeah, I can still booty shake to old school madonna - not the newer stuff of hers but the really old stuff. There are so many others too, guess I like to shake my booty a lot! Sometimes I dance around my house to a song when I'm home alone and my dog looks at me like huh? I say "hey lets go and she jumps off the couch and tries to grab my feet and wags her tail. I think it's little doggie booty shaking, although I haven't confirmed that theory yet :-)

Sarah said...

well you know i'm jaded and cynical and i personally believe hope is the most wicked evil an infertile ever faces, still i'm hoping for you with every bone in my body, and i absolutely love that cibele passed that pillow along to you. i can't imagine a better home for it!

as to the mother's day maternity ward visit - WOW! an award from the pentagon doesn't even begin to cover it!

DH and I's first dance was to "Let's Get It On" Marvin Gay. DH laughs at me because wherever we go if there is music on I am dancing, I have been known to bust a move in the grocery store. I really love James Brown's "I Got The Feeling." I have a pretty electic music collection, lets dance!

Dreamer4agift said...

Well, while I've got a lot of songs I like to "shake ma bootey" to, I'm gonna have to hold off. I am working all weekend, so I can't wait to post all the songs I danced to while in the ambulance!:) I'm sure my partner will have a sore belly for laughing at me the whole time. Sometimes, I break out in song...okay, so I'm always singin'...I like to sing to the patients, okay?:)...and there are times I have been known to be driving to a run (with lights and sirens) and dancin' in the seat to whatever is on the radio...but don't be alarmed, I'm a VERY good dancing ambulance driver!:)lol...I'll post the results asap!

Have a wonderful birthday!

Whoa. Stevie? Seriously? I am HOOKED to Stevie Wonder and always have been. So many of his songs remind me of the warmest moments of my childhood, much like in your case. My Stevie feel good song is "As". I referenced it here in my old blog: http://kymztwinz.wordpress.com/2007/03/26/time-and-love/.

Have you listened to the albums that "As" was on? It's Songs in the Key of Life, and any Stevie fan MUST have this double-album set.

Email me from my blog and I'll even copy it for you on CD. Consider it your birthday gift!

My "dance like no one is watching" song (well, at least one of them) is "Canned Heat" by Jamiroquai. I'll do some dancin' for you. Happy birthday!

Also...thinking great things for your and Mook's upcoming cycle!

It's so neat that you received such a special pillow. I hope it brings you the good luck it brought for your friend.

As far as booty shakin' music, I would have to say Bruce Springsteen is one of my favs.

P.S.-Happy birthday!

Hmmmm, lots of thought gone into this one.

Firstly, LOVE Stevie, although "I just called to say I love you" always makes me cry as it reminds me of my grandad dying.

Onto happier things, I am going to shake my bum around the living room to "Build me up buttercup" by the Foundations. It was the song I danced at the wedding with my nephew (remember the video I posted?)

Happy Bithday for tomorrow babe, I love ya!

Ha ha, HA HA, please don't be offended.

"I Just Called to Say I Love You" was our accidental music for the bridal waltz at my first wedding in 1987 (they lost the tape with the right song on it). I think it was in the charts at the time and was the only love song the organisers could find, given the emergency! Made for an interesting bridal waltz, but it worked quite well!

Happy Birthday :)

Happy birthday!!!!!! I know it can be painful to look at it as another year older w/o a child in our arms... but I hope you and Mook could celebrate and enjoy your life. Tell us what you did! My bday is this week too....

I'm sorry I didn't get your emails, I only check that address (the one I have linked from my blog) about once a month). I feel terrible, and I hope you know I wasn't ignoring you! Thank you for your kind thoughts remembering me.

Back when I was still on BabyCenter, all filled with hope and wishing for a baby, a dear friend posted with only a link to YouTube. It was a video of George Michael's "Faith." I still think of her and that feeling of someone GETTING IT every time I hear it.

Before this river
Becomes an ocean
Before you throw my heart back on the floor
Oh baby I reconsider
My foolish notion
Well I need someone to hold me
But I'll wait for something more

Yes I've gotta have faith...
