Thrice as Nice

As I drove Mook to the airport this morning, I said:

"Do you realize I've been blogging for THREE years?!"

We both smiled in a moment of silence, and let my statement sink in--because we both remembered where we were literally and mentally this time three years ago...

I remember sitting in our blue rocking chair in our office/craft room, asking Mook what he thought about me blogging about the male factor diagnosis we had received days earlier.

He sort of mumbled, "You mean like writing an online diary for everyone else to read?"

And my response was, "Well yeah, but I hope to find other people writing about what I plan to write about."

That's when he swiveled around in his chair and with a smirk on his face, said: "Sure, you can write about my crappy sperm and and we'll live happily ever after."

I know that I could have easily started blogging without telling Mook--could have really been a "true" diary--but I am so glad I have had his support from day one. I've always, always said that our infertility journey has been a WE and not a ME situation. Even though we are a male factor infertile couple, I am a part of that couple. And yes, we have had our disagreements and tough times through the journey...but I'm glad we could appreciate the anniversary of my blogging together.

Also, I find it very special that the O-man was born so close to my blogging birthday. What a GREAT gift! So, as we celebrated O-man's first birthday party this weekend (despite the Snowmageddon) I whispered to my sweet boy that Mommy was also celebrating a special day-and that I couldn't wait to share my blogging stories with him someday.

He seemed quite excited! See?




OK, well maybe it wasn't all because of my blogaversary--he may have been just a little excited about eating his cake, and sharing it with his sweetheart, C. Her Mommy was so sweet to travel across the country to help us celebrate!
