JJ is getting a little stronger every day and continues to keep her chin up with the long road of recovery. She is getting a little more comfortable with the pain and certainly with the new daily routines.
Little man is also getting stronger everyday and is still over achieving at every test thrown his way. So far, he has passed his hearing test, blood sugar tests, heart rate is strong an normal and his stomach functions are working perfectly. (believe me)
I have transitioned to calling Oliver by a new nickname, which has double meaning. I call him Juice. Obviously, and in no way linked to his initials (OJ) and doubly due to his mothers constant and unending thirst for apple juice in her time here at the Hotel de Hos-pi-tal. She literally drank the entire hospital dry twice... I've never seen this lady drink so much apple juice! It was like an appleholic... AA meetings may still apply once we get her back out on the town; I'll keep you posted - ha, that's a pun!
So, back to the topic/title at hand.
Yeah... I got peed on. This was my first experience with such a thing and I have to say, it caught me by surprise. Total shock and awe. Dude is a sharpshooter too... like a sniper he hit me dead on in the center of the chest; not once but twice!
I also had my first experience with a dirty diaper. I know, I know. You? Mook, such a world traveler and modern age scholar, this was your first experience with a dirty diaper? Yes, it was... and I have to say, I am pleased with my progress. I held my urges to lose my lunch and dove right in and did the deed!
Four changes down and ten million to go!
I also had my first experience feeding; Since Juice came a little early, the real juice hasn't... We are having to supplement with some fake stuff to keep him fat and happy. Its a lot easier than I thought but still a challenge. He's not quite got a handle on this breathing, suckling, and swallowing all at once. But hey! He's new here! Give the kid a break!
How freakin' cute is he???? It's ok, we know!
Oh, if you have the time, go ahead back to college and get your degree in child safety seat set-up. Cause, damn! I feel like a flippin' idiot every time I touch this thing. Luckily, the fire department here will do a check and an installation display for you... I guess there are more people out there just like me...
On a side note, please keep BeeCee in your thoughts and prayers. Tomorrow is a big day for her and her husband.
All three of us are thinking about you and wish you the best!

Baby daddy Mook, out -
Yay! First to comment. Thanks for the update, Mook! Oliver is just beautiful - what a cutie! You're going to be just great at all of this dad business. Remember, pee is sterile and poop, well, there's not much good to say about poop.
ReplyDeleteAnd trust me, the car seat gets easier with time. I had a minor freakout about it too, and I can now pop him in and out at a moment's notice.
So happy for you guys. Give my love to JJ and Juice!
Congratulations again! Getting peed on is one of the joys of having a son. Mine is almost 6 months old and I still get peed on on a weekly basis so you have a lot more of that to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteAw, he already has squeezable cheeks! He is precious. I left JJ a voicemail just to let her know that I'm thinking of her.
ReplyDeleteYou've been christened, Mook. You know that in the first few weeks M changed more wet diapers than I did and never once got peed on. He didn't even do the blow trick (have you heard that one?). Me, I would open diaper a smidge blow a little air down there, cover it up, and repeat. As soon as I opened the diaper up enough to actually change it there would be a stream. You just wait until he hits himself in the face with that stream of pee. This happened quite a few times to Baby M. Then as he got a little older it would aim straight up (I think he did this on purpose) and he would laugh. See all the things you get to look forward to!
Give JJ my best! When do you guys get out?
He's adorable!! YAY!!!
ReplyDeleteThe car seats will seem simple in no time flat. Promise!! :)
Come home soon, JJ and Oliver!
He is absurdly beautiful! Like, I can't stop looking at him beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on being christened with Oliver's pee. Not quite as festive as smashing a champagne bottle across your chest, but I bet it hurt a lot less.
He is so beautiful! I don't know what Mook looks like, but I definitely think Juice looks a lot like JJ. Don't worry, as he gets older, the sharp-shooting pee-pee will decrease quite a bit. I can't remember the last time my 4 month old peed on me, but he does like to pee in the bath. I'm so happy for y'all and hope everyone is healed and home soon so we can hear of your adventures in parenting!
ReplyDeleteOMG I just want to gobble him up he's so cute! Hooray on the christening - its a true passing into fatherhood!
ReplyDeleteGive JJ a hug from me and even more congrats all round!
Juice- i LOVE IT! He is completely adorable. Doing Good Mook. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteYes, these lil boys seem to pee on everything
He is adorable!!!!! What a precious cutie! Apple juice sounds yummy right now. So happy for y'all!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, you need to guest post more often. I about died laughing! Those boys are tough when it comes to changing diapers. I've been sprayed numerous times. Too bad nobody told me tuck the sucker down either. Yeah, got peed on out the top of the dipaer. That was special. Note to you: Tuck penis down. Always.
ReplyDeleteThink the poop and pee is bad. Wait until his first erection. That's....umm...interesting. Good luck to you three!
Into every life a little pee must fall. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear things are going so well still. Prayers flowing your way from my direction as always.
Gosh, he is gorgeous, isn't he?
*hugs to all*
oh my goodness, those cheeks! he is just precious.
ReplyDeleteglad to hear you've been initiated by the sharpshooter!
Such a cutie and way to go nailing dad.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of the fire department if they can keep all those car seats straight. When I worked NICU parents would bring theirs in and of course they were all different. I could never figure them out. Adjusting the straps was the worst!
He is so cute. I am so glad you are adjusting to life as parents!! I hope you will be home with your adorable son soon!
ReplyDeleteHe's your son, so obviously you think he's cute, but honestly, he's REALLY REALLY REALLY cute! Most babies do not come out as cute as that one! Sweet Oliver. Praying for your sweet little family and for JJ's speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteHe's so sweet!
ReplyDeleteYa'll!! The Juice is just precious. I'm so happy and proud for both of you.
ReplyDeleteI know you are busy, but just in case you read this any time soon... I got my bfp today and pray that I can experience the same happiness as you have. Love and God Bless to you all!
Such a cutie! Sounds like you are all adapting beautifully! ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteMook - he's so cute... take care of JJ! Sorry to hear you got peed in.
ReplyDeleteHe is beautiful. Glad to hear JJ is recovering nicely. I had a c-section as well and after a couple of days I felt great. Hope she does too.
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE the nickname juice.
He is gorgeous!!!!!! Just like his momma, and you tell her I said that and that she is even more gorgeous right now, in the hospital with bedhead and lack of a shower. Cuz she's a momma now, and ain't nothing prettier than a brand new momma. :o)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be able to stop kissing his sweet little face!!!
ReplyDeleteThe first time we changed Lil' P's diaper at home-- peed all over the wall. Classic moment!
I hope that JJ keeps feeling better and gets much of her strength back before heading home.
So happy for you three!
(Can you believe it??? You are a family of three now!!!)
I love your posts, Mook. How proud and happy you are is so obvious. I am so very happy for you guys!
ReplyDeleteOh...the poopy diapers--you ain't seen nothing yet. Wait until you have to take out the diaper pail diapers for garbage day. My husband did that the other day and almost threw up.
Oh he's adorable - looks so much like JJ (Sorry Mook!). And I love the nickname.
ReplyDeleteThat whole carseat business is a hard one. We got stopped at the door when we tried to leave the hospital and the carseat setup was given the thorough once-over. We didn't have it nearly tight enough, apparently.
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy your little man.
What a handsome fellow! Thanks for posting a pic!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS MOOK AND JJ!
ReplyDeleteHe is an absolute ANGEL! That face is just so peaceful and perfect. Congratulations to you and JJ!! EEEEeeek!
ReplyDeleteI L-O-V-E that you already got peed on. Make sure to keep track, you'll want to remind him of it at his High School graduation.
I'm so glad everyone is happy and healthy!
xoxo
He is adorable!!! Congrats on your sweet boy!
ReplyDeleteHe is SO cute!! Is his hair that dark in person?
ReplyDeleteYou're gonna have to take that Ron picture down, cuz this guy is waaay cuter! My burning question though is, "did he come with a wand?" and "what is the spell for peeing on your dad?"
ReplyDeleteOliver is truly, truly beautiful. Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteHope JJ is feeling better--sounds like a tough birth--now THAT deserves a medal.
So thrilled for both of you--enjoy that gorgeous little guy!
What a cutie!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMook - Mr. Badger has the same issue with V. He's taken to calling him the mad pisser. Though we are only a few days ahead of you, welcome to the joys of having a little boy.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely get the safety seat checked out. My husband is very intelligent and has no problem reading directions. He installed the seat but I bugged him to go get it looked at. Turns out the directions weren't quite so clear and he had a strap wrong.
ReplyDeleteHope JJ's pains go away soon.
OMG, he is too cute and I think that he looks like JJ. I still think of him as Ron, but loved JUICE!!!!!! you are doing a great job. I can tell how excited you are. I love you updates! I had a c-section, and I know how hard the recovery can be, but tell JJ that it get so much better as the days do by, by day 5 she will feel human gain. As for the "real stuff" , lyla was also 5 weeks early, it took a while for my milk to come in, it can be frustrating, you are doing the right thing to supplement, as you said you guys have to keep him fat and happy!
ReplyDeleteHugs and congratulations for your all of you
you
Many congratulations to you guys! Oliver is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIf you think the pee is interesting, wait till you get projectile-pooped on! HAHAHA!
Speedy recovery to JJ.
I'm a fairly new reader, but of course I want to congratulate you on this wonderful cute baby. I really like the name! And I definitely enjoy reading about your first few days. It's obvious that you are very happy.
ReplyDeleteSending you big hugs and my best to you, Mook and Oliver -- he's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAlso wishing you a happy blogoversary. Mine is today! Where does the time go!?
He is too freakin' cute! Love the name, too.
ReplyDeleteHope you all are doing well & are loving OJ up!
I think J he looks like you in that picture.. Im glad that you are safe.. So when is the next one coming? LOL***** Talk to you soon!!
ReplyDeleteHe's gorgeous - congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunner! Congratulations! I love his name as well - especially the middle name and its symbolism. What a wonderful tribute to the journey that brought Oliver to your family!
ReplyDeleteWanted to add my voice to the chorus of congratulations! The whole family is in my thoughts. Huge hugs.
ReplyDeleteHe is a cutie! So glad every one continues to do well.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Daddy is getting trained!
ReplyDeleteHe is SO cute! Tell Mom she is still in our thoughts.
Congratulations!!! What a wonderful sight. Juice looks perfect. Adorable. I'll bet being peed on never looked so good! LOL.
ReplyDeletecannot deal with how cute that baby man is!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is so freakin' cute. I hope that JJ is doing well. All the best!!
ReplyDeleteI just love his name (and admire the thought that went into it). And that little guy is sooooo handsome. I mean, really, what a good looking lad. Good work mom & dad.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all three of y'all. Best wishes to the new momma for a speedy recovery and then onto the tasks of motherhood.
With kind thoughts and much love from faraway,
