a list for my list

This is not your mind playing tricks on you.

There are really 5 lists* on my kitchen counter: color coded, broken into categories and all items need a lined crossed through it. It's funny how when one thing is done, another gets added. Lists really are never ending!

I knew this month would fly by--this time of year is so hectic, it takes effort to stop and remember to live life off the list(s) sometimes.

Are you a list maker? How are you tackling the mile-long-holiday-to-dos? I admire those people that keep a list in their head. But honestly? There is nothing quite at as satisfying as making a line and a check mark next to a completed task.

Now I can check writing this post off one of my lists. See? Progress!

*It may say Naughty, but it says Oh so Nice at the bottom of the note! I promise I've been good this year!

  1. I use lists, although I am not as organized as you! I have a wipe board (actually two) that I use in the house and I list out what we need to do each weekend (I even write down the fun activities--lest we forget to do them!)

I have an on-going home improvement list on the side of the fridge.

And I have spreadsheets for holiday gifts and cards--they are all pretty much checked off for this year.

Despite all this--I still find chaos in my life...so I guess I am controlling it, but it is still there! :-)

  2. I've been using www.cozi.com and I have access to the lists on my iphone. The calendar also syncs to my Outlook (it's slow on the iphone though). It's pretty good because with my memory as of late, I've been misplacing my paper to-do lists... LOL!

  4. OMG, I love that you have several lists working at one time. I love making lists, and including the time frame in which they should be completed. I never actually get it all done, but it gives me a sense of calm just to have the list.

  5. Rather than using paper lists (other than when going grocery shopping) because I lose them too easily, I've resorted to using the "stickies" function on my Mac. That way my sticky confronts me every morning when I open my laptop. Unfortunately, it seems like for every 1 task I take off the list, 3 more get added!

mine aren't so color coordinated, but I get pumped to draw those lines through completed tasks!

  7. No, I don't make or like lists...isn't taht horrible. I've had so many people try to buy me purse calendars, etc...I don't like them. I actually like the lists I make on my phone now. :)

but I admire and respect people who do...I really wish I had that in me. :)

    Merry Christmas JJ....Ho, Ho, Ho

  8. I love lists!!! And I do have different lists for different things and I do love to cross things off and they are never ending. More gets added all the time!

  9. Do you ever add something to your list that you've already done, just so you can cross it off?!

I try to keep a list in my head, but that often times fails!

  10. When I really want to be organized, I write in different colors too.

Love your list-y-ness! And it's good to know you've been good and not naughty this year! :)

  11. I have a little red Moleskine notebook in my purse with lists upon lists in it and a pocket in the back for things like coupons and things I always forget to take shopping with me. I haven't been able to embrace the electronic lists yet. I need to physically mark things off.

  12. My "to-do" activities get put in my blackberry calendar with reminders.

My gifts list is on my computer and this year I have been good about updating it.

  13. I make lists and then proceed to ignore them... I don't know how I ever get anything accomplished. Seriously - I will make a list, walk by and look at it, say to myself "Yeah, I've really gotta get that stuff done," and then wander off to do something else. Also, I will take a list to the grocery store and go over it and over it and still forget something vital. It's like I have a list mental block.

  15. Oh my gosh, I have lists everywhere! Lists at work, lists at home, lists in my purse in case I think of something and want to write it down right away ... I'm with you, the feeling of satisfaction when I get to check something of is awesome!

  18. Hahahaha. This looks like my kitchen counter:).

My lists have sublists-- for the day, or the list of errands to be run, etc. My little family would fall apart if I attempted to keep the lists in my head, unless something is on my list, there is simply no chance it will get done.

Sometimes I add things to my lists that I just finished... just to be able to check something off:)
