Red Balloons

Do you know how many?

Is that song stuck in your head now? When I sing it, it goes a little something like this...."99 red balloons, la de da de dah de daaaa"

Regardless, it gets stuck on a loop in my head. At least it makes me sorta bounce my head and tap my feet while it's looping!

And that's how many days are listed on my ticker today: 99 days left. Double digits. Another lovely milestone that I have looked forward to. I just might have to get a red balloon on the way home...

Thank you for all your feedback on my neighborly post...I do realize that it's very likely that our children will be playmates in the years to come, so I hope we can get to a point of friendly understanding. Whether I will ever share our journey with her, remains to be determined--I will just have to wait and see.

Let's see, what else...here are some other happenings/updates from the "Jeans" household:
  • We are all decorated for Christmas: the earliest we have ever done it, but it was so nice to get it done. Last weekend Mook got everything down and I put our our village pieces out and put on some holiday tunes. Nat King Cole's version of "A Cradle in Bethlehem" came on, and the tears just started flowing-I just stood there thinking about how grateful I am.
  • We started our child-care classes last Tuesday, so our 2nd one is tonight. Since I registered at the last minute, we didn't get the letter telling us we needed to bring pillows. Oops. That made for a less than comfortable first experience with the labor breathing exercises on the floor: but Mook and I giggled the whole time-we learned our lesson, and the pillows are now permanently in my trunk for the remainder of class.
  • The Uterus of Gryffindor status: he's a busy little boy. I'm starting to notice when he likes to snooze--mid morning and mid afternoon, just like his momma. Still feeling new twinges, pulls all the time-trying to remember it's all a part of this process! I am finally feeling comfortable enough (in more ways than one) to take more pictures. You can see how I'm looking these days here, or click on the Gryffindor logo on the left side bar at anytime.
  • Slowly getting registry things done: I just don't do well with multiple options, so I am taking my time making sure I'm not just scanning or clicking away. Thank goodness for online registry!
  • I'm anxiously awaiting the 9th when I go in for the GD test and to check on the previa. I feel like I am carrying Ron so low, and worry that the placenta has not moved-since I feel like he's partial to be right above my pelvic bone. Doing my best to be at ease with whatever the outcome is.
  • Looking forward to being with family this week/weekend. I haven't seen some of them at all since we announced Ron's presence-I can't wait to reminisce and eat some good home-cookin'! BUT, my snarky/witty friend knows that some of these family members will want to be a bit much, so she got me these, which I just love!
And lastly, I am so thankful for this community and for all the wonderful things we do for each other. I've been moved to tears many times this week by things I've read! I hope each one of you have a blessed week and consider yourself holiday-hugged by yours truly!

  1. I love that song! You totally should buy a red ballon on the way home today!!

    Congrats on crossing a milestone!

  2. your belly pics are adorable!!!!!!! =) good for you. I love reading your blog.

  3. Yay for less than 100 days!!!!! It's exciting, right?
I am glad you are doing so well and enjoying the pregnancy right now... the experience is priceless. My GD is one week from today... *gulp* Crossing my fingers for both of us.
    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

  4. Gongratulations on hitting 99!!!!! I am so happy... you deserve this!

  5. You look great in those pictures!

I think your placenta can still have moved even if you are still carrying low. I'm carrying low, too, and the nice thing (so far) is no heartburn!

I'm glad you're enjoying your childbirth prep classes. Ours sucked and I felt like it was a total waste of time and money.

The registry is completely overwhelming, isn't it? I can't believe how many things there are to decide on and then there are so many choices for each item!

Congrats on getting to double digits!

  6. If I may make a recommendation, take a Mom or two with you to help you complete your registry. I took 2 friends with me and with their help, we completed my registry in 1 hour :) They know what works, what you need, etc...

  7. That's funny, in my head the song goes "99 red balloons, na na na na na nanana." At least your version uses more than one sound.

    Congrats on double digits!

  8. 99 red balloons,
    floating in the summer sky
    panic bells, it's red alert
there's something here from somewhere else
the war machine springs to life,
    opens up one eager eye
    focusing it on the sky
where 99 red balloons go by...

In case you wanted to fill in the la dee da dee dah de da part! (Sorry, I'm just a massively huge Nena fan- comes with the territory of being married to a German!)

Wow! Only 99 days left! That is so dang exciting.

This year, I miss out on decorating for christmas because we're going to be gone for several weeks to Texas for the holidays, so it's kind of silly to put up the tree when we won't be here to see it, only to have to take it down as soon as we get back here. I'll probably insist on putting up outdoor lights on a timer so that it looks like someone's here while we're gone, and if I do that, I might as well at least hang a wreath. But no mantle and no tree. It's just such a big to do. Oh, and that Nat King Cole version of that song makes me cry every time. Lovely.

Look at you! You are looking so lovely and smashingly pregnant! Beautiful!

And I love those temporary tats- how hilarious!

I hope you have an awesome Thanksgiving, with plenty of good food and good company!

  16. Wow! 99 days?!!! Seriously? That has just flown!

I have that song on my iTunes, in like three different versions. Did you know the original was in German? I love it!

So glad to hear you're doing well.

  18. You look great!! What a perfect little bump :)
Congrats on getting down to the double digits AND on getting your decorations up...if only I could do the same!! Maybe turning on some Christmas tunes would help...I think I have the perfect CD that from last year ;)

  19. Ok. So now you totally got that red balloons song in my head...but I guess I'll forgive you. Glad things are going well for you--and you look great!

  24. Hey Miss JJ,
You sound fantastic and it put a smile on my face. We've got our house all decorated too. I love the holidays. You've got your last quiet Christmas ahead of you. Enjoy it!!! :-)

  25. Hold on...those 99 days will FLY. Trust me -I'm at 22 and 99 seems like it was yesterday. Happy Thanksgiving girlie - so thankful to have "met" you this year. :)

  26. You look great! Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.

  27. Think of what it will be like once you hit the single-week mark!?

And good luck on the GD and previa check. I am crossing my fingers both go well. And I am carrying low - or maybe all over - and my placenta made a big move over the course of four weeks, I hope the same for you!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  28. woo hooo!! double digits!
So effing awesome. You sound really great in this post & that just makes me all kinds of happy for you.
    two things:
    1) You look GREAT. So envious of your beautiful bump. I am still rocking the "she looks fat" gut...sigh
    2) when do we get photos of the holiday decorations??

  29. We listened to this version of 99 Red Ballooons by Goldfinger: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QYIlgRg9TY all the time in college, and now that's the one stuck in my head. :) When my ticker dropped below 100 last week, I started singing 99 bottles of beer on the wall. :) Balloons are probably safer at this point...

You look completely fantastic! You have a perfect belly and I'm totally jealous. :)

Good luck with that registry, I'm the same way. I felt like I could only tackle one thing at a time because I wanted to make sure we were selecting the absolute best swing, diaper bag, rocker, etc. Multiple choices drive me nuts.

  30. You may not feel it but you look beautiful :))) Happy holidays hun ~Hugs~

  31. Yay for 99 days!!! You should totally get a red balloon. Love the belly shot, you look fantastic. Happy Thanksgiving!!

  32. Hey hon, wishing you a very happy thanksgiving!

  33. Love the song, and for some reason got all teary when I read that Ron likes to sleep in the morning and afternoon, you've come so far in such a short time.... It makes me so happy to see that all the blogs that I haven't read in a while, well you're all pregnant, or have babies. It's great.
oh, have new blog, come check it out if you get a chance.

  34. Get everything done now that you possibly can, because there won't be time when Ron arrives! Sounds like you are ahead of the game, though.

That sounds so cliched. But it is so true.

  35. woohoo, congratulations on being under 100, i remember that being big! very very excited for you!!

  36. Great, now I'll be singing that song the rest of the day:-) But I'm so glad you've made it to your double digits.

I think I want to eventually get those tattoos--especially the "do not touch" one. Love it.

  37. Great song. Right now I have Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" going through my head.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!!!

  38. I wanted to thank you so much for your thoughts and support during IVF #3. It means a lot!

I am enjoying clicking through your blog. You look beautiful!!!
